This policy describes what SocialCrumbs collects when you use the site, why, and who else handles it. It is written to be read rather than to be technically survivable, so it is short and specific.
Your email address, when you create an account — either directly or via Google. If you sign in with Google we receive your email address and basic profile information; we do not receive your Google password and cannot act on your Google account.
Your subscription status, if you pay. We store a Stripe customer identifier, your subscription state, and its renewal date so we know whether to unlock full results.
Basic request data — IP address and standard server logs — used for rate limiting and to keep the service from being drained by automated abuse.
Your Instagram credentials. We never ask for them, never store them, and the service does not log into Instagram on your behalf or on anyone else's. Nothing you do here appears on your Instagram account or on the account you looked up.
Card details. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. Card numbers never touch our servers.
When you search a handle, we retrieve publicly visible profile information for that account — display name, photo, follower and following counts, and the publicly listed accounts connected to it. This is the same information any logged-out visitor can see on Instagram.
Results are cached for roughly six hours so that repeated searches for the same handle do not re-fetch the same data. That cache is keyed by the handle alone and is not linked to the person who searched for it. We do not build a profile of who searched for whom.
Private accounts cannot be read — by us or by anyone without access to them. If an account is private, we tell you so rather than showing you anything.
SocialCrumbs only surfaces information Instagram already publishes to the public. We hold no private data about you, and we do not create an account for you.
If you make your Instagram account private, your followers and following lists stop being readable here immediately, because they stop being public at the source. Cached results expire within about six hours.
You can write to support@socialcrumbs.com with questions about data relating to your handle.
We use a small number of providers, each for one job:
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Email support@socialcrumbs.com and we will delete your account and associated records. Cancelling a subscription does not automatically delete your account, so tell us if you want both.
Some records are kept where we are required to — Stripe retains payment records for tax and accounting purposes independently of us.
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
